Connected Islands

Building a Healthier Digital Future, Together

Digital technology doesn’t have to be overwhelming, invasive, or extractive. We help individuals, communities, and organizations discover and implement open-source solutions that put people, privacy, transparency, and meaningful connection first.

The digital spaces we inhabit shape our habits, relationships, and collective future. The question is: what kind of digital ecosystems do we want to cultivate together?

We envision a network of sovereign, community-managed islands—privately owned servers, deeply interconnected through shared values and open communication, thriving beyond the dominant extractive culture.

Private Open‑Source Infrastructure

You Own It, We Maintain & Support It

Private open‑source infrastructure we offer is built on four interconnected pillars: a community‑owned Linux server, a NextCloud Hub for secure collaboration, a dedicated email server that keeps conversations confidential, and optionally WordPress platform for multiple websites. Together, they form a self‑reliant digital ecosystem that replaces extractive cloud services with tools rooted in transparency, privacy, and meaningful connection.

A well‑maintained Linux operating system running on a private server owned by the community—not rented from Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle, Google, or any other cloud provider—is what makes true ownership possible, breaking the dependency on extractive data centers.

An open source software providing secure file storage, shared calendars, contacts, and collaborative documents—all through NextCloud. Our work sits at the centre, never an advertising model, with no surveillance and no lock‑in.

A dedicated email server where conversations remain ours alone, free from corporate data mining. No scanning, no profiling—just an inbox that respects the confidentiality our work and life deserve.

A public or internal web presence on infrastructure that respects privacy and refuses to extract visitor data. No trackers, no third‑party scripts—just a space that reflects the values we live by.

Who are we?

Kamyar

Kamyar has worked with Linux and open-source systems for more than twenty years, setting up and tending private, privacy-respecting servers. Alongside this, he has explored dialogue, leadership, and regenerative practices, learning to approach technology not as something to master or control, but as a living field that invites deeper understanding and careful attention. His work is shaped by a trust in collective and intuitive intelligence—the insights that emerge through listening, relationship, and participation. His aim here is to help create well-tended digital spaces where people and communities can remain stewards of their own digital ecosystem, with care and dignity.

Current Islands

PureGold Server

More than a technical platform, PureGold is an experiment in a different culture of being online—one that values transparency, care, shared responsibility, and the intelligence that emerges through friendship, conversation, and collective participation. It began with a simple question: How might we purify our relationship with technology? From that inquiry emerged a shared digital home, built on open-source software and shaped around the needs of its community. It is tended collectively and guided by the principles of participatory leadership.

The Listening Circle

The Listening Circle is a community of…

Our Island

A ready-made server-island designed for groups that are not yet ready to build or maintain their own infrastructure, or for moments when leaving extractive cloud services feels too urgent to wait for a community process to form. It functions as a simple entry point: no server setup or infrastructure work is required before use.

It exists as a living container that holds files, conversations, and collective work in a shared open-source environment. The basic features such as file storage and sharing, video conferences, contacts and calendar… are provided by NextCloud hub. Beside that, you can bring your own domainname.com and use private email functionality, or start a simple WordPress website to present your work.

It remains available as a place to stay for as long as it is needed. When a group grows and is ready to establish its own sovereign server, support is available for the transition onward.

What we offer?

At the core of our offerings is a NextCloud server—a secure, privacy-respecting online space designed to be your practice ground for healthier digital habits. Built on a green VPS, powered by Linux and Docker, and equipped with NextCloud Hub and an email server, this platform is a robust alternative to privacy-invasive cloud services. It includes features like file management, online document collaboration, email, calendar, contacts, whiteboard, and even conversation and video conferencing tools. More than just a product, it’s a step toward reclaiming your digital sovereignty—a space where collaboration thrives without compromising privacy or ethics.

PrivateIsland Hub

We offer NextCloud accounts on our Server, with an optional email or a WordPress based website hosting.

Setup a Server

We offer design, deployment and maintenance of private servers for communities. If you are interested in setting up your own island, with your friends and family and people of resonance, we are happy to support you in setting up and maintaining the infrastructure. With this, we can assemble a solution that meets your community’s specific needs.

Migration Assistance

We offer online sessions to help people migrate from the old system to the new.

Open Source Culture

At the heart of this project is the open-source culture—a tradition of collaboration, generosity, and transparency. It guides how we explore, adopt, and share digital tools, from privacy-respecting solutions such as Nextcloud server packages to platforms that support community research and participation. By working in the spirit of open source, we contribute to a growing ecosystem of accessible, ethical, and community-driven technologies and shared knowledge.
